The Southwest Florida Water Management District waters around Hernando were running well despite the weather conditions. Action-packed day from the get-go! Joseph and their crew joined us for an early morning fall adventure on Crystal River. We launched around sunrise with partly cloudy skies overhead and perfect water conditions at Crystal River Preserve State Park. The weather stayed comfortable throughout our trip with Salty Day Fishing Charters.

Once the stage was set, we focused on bottom fishing and casting with live bait to target the redfish cruisin' the flats. The jigging technique worked well in the deeper pockets around the preserve. Crystal River's diverse structure makes it perfect for inshore fishing - y'all get everything from shallow grass flats to deeper channels where the redfish like to hang out. We had bent rods working the backcountry areas and managed to put some solid redfish in the boat!
